Apraava Energy
Apraava Energy is a diversified power company, jointly owned by the CLP Group - one of the largest investor-owned power businesses in Asia -and Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec (CDPQ) - a global investment group.
Founded in 2002, Apraava has evolved from being a single-asset company to a forward-looking, climate-conscious organisation. Apraava Energy's portfolio comprises 3,150 MW of installed capacity which includes 924 MW of wind and 250 MW of solar energy projects across seven states, a 1320 MW coal-fired super critical power plant and two power transmission assets.
The name Apraava Energy has been derived from an amalgamation of four elements: Agni (Fire), Prithvi (Earth), Ambu (Water) and Vayu (Wind). The company aims to invest in low-carbon growth areas, including renewable energy, power transmission and distribution, as well as other non-generation, customer-focused energy businesses.
Apraava Energy CSR Project - A Few Glimpses
Tata Institute of Social Sciences, School of Skill Education (TISS SSE) signed an MOU with Apraava Energy Private Limited in January 2020. This MOU was signed to implement the Skill Development Project for 2000 underprivileged students. This was a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project of Apraava Energy under which they gave the funding of Rs.3 crore to TISS SSE. The project ended in June 2024.
TISS SSE is implementing three years work integrated bachelor's degree programmes at the pan India level in various sectors like Healthcare; Power; Banking, Finance Sector and Insurance; Child Care etc. Students get three years of work experience while pursuing the programme and thus they become employable upon completion of their graduation. Financial support in the form of scholarships was extended to 2004 students to pay their educational fees who were enrolled in TISS SSE programmes. The project focus was on two key sectors - Healthcare and Power (Renewable Energy). In addition to this, a few students from other sectors too were supported as exceptions.

True to their philosophy , HCL foundation has very graciously supported TISS-SSE students by funding their tuition fees who were in real need in sectors like BFSI,Hospitality and Health care by making difference to more than 200 students in the area of education and skill development.
